Triggers 1 & 2

The T2 is a full-function control which can directly replace the GE 135D5753 (M-2) Synchronous Motor Control. It features low power dissipation and 7500 volt isolation (SCR gate to SCR gate). This module allows the exciter field to be applied at zero speed.

Upgrade kit for Brushless Exciters

Introduction

Brushless Exciters for Synchronous motors have been in use since the 1960’s. Their acceptance by the industry has, over time, reduced maintenance and simplified the associated motor control cubicle which supplies power to the exciter field, instead of to the motor field. This has also allowed the use of synchronous motors in any location where the existence of brush (carbon) particles and/or sparking is not desired.

This Up-Grade is intended to further improve the exciter-rectifier performance and to reduce exciter-rectifier and field winding failures. While originally designed for GE Exciter-rectifiers, the upgrade applies to all exciter types and configurations. This upgrade prevents:

  • A high rate of rise in the circuit voltage which can, over time, result in failure of the triggering circuit or of the triggered device (SCRs).
  •  Failure of the SCR to “latch”, which can lead to synchronizing difficulties and the observation that “the motor won’t synchronize”
  • Need to source Out-of-Production SCRs

This upgrade is available in a white paper and was presented to GE International, Charlotte, NC in a session on “Brushless Exciter Operation and Repair”. .

Motor Repair Parts

Filter-1

Trigger-1

Trigger-1

Replacement 3-phase R-C filter designed to suppress switching transient voltages in the rectifier circuit. Installation instructions, test instructions, and mounting hardware are included.

Trigger-1

Trigger-1

Trigger-1

Replacement over-voltage trigger for two SCR’s in series (or just one SCR) which are required to pass the negative induced motor field current during motor acceleration. Trigger-1 replaces previously used matched-pair Zener diodes and includes current limiting and reverse-voltage protection. Installation instructions, test instructions, and mounting hardware are included.

Trigger-2

Upgrade Kit

Upgrade Kit

Full-function control which can directly replace the GE 135D5753 (M-2) Synchronous Motor Control. It features low power dissipation and 7500 volt isolation (SCR gate to SCR gate). This module allows the exciter field to be applied at zero speed. Installation instructions, test Instructions, and mounting hardware are included.
